A Conversation One Week After Launch

One week after House of Wunder opened its doors to the world, our founder Michael Wunderman sat down in his Palma de Mallorca office with Dr. Daniel Langer, host of the Future of Luxury Podcast and one of the most respected voices in luxury strategy. The conversation that followed ranges across five decades of watchmaking, a family legacy like no other, and the vision behind a house built to inspire a liberated state of mind.

Michael’s story begins in Los Angeles, as the son of the legendary Severin Wunderman, the man who created Gucci timepieces and later acquired Corum. Michael learned the craft at his father’s side, becoming marketing director of Gucci watches at nineteen and later president of Corum, where he designed timepieces that collectors continue to pursue decades on. In the episode he shares what those years taught him, from carrying a suitcase of gold watches across the world at twenty-one to redesigning the collections that defined an era.

He also speaks openly about the years between. After Corum, Michael explored filmmaking and designed multi-million dollar homes, always following the same creative instinct. That instinct eventually led him back to watches, and in one week of concentrated creation he designed the pieces that would become House of Wunder.

Four families of watches now exist, each with its own spirit, connected by a single design signature. The Amplifier leads them into the world.

Listeners will hear Michael describe the origin of the Wunderflow, the link system born from his love of vintage bracelets that move and mold to the wearer. He wanted that suppleness from the very first day of ownership, so he engineered it: seventeen links across where convention uses three, metal that drapes like fabric, a piece that wraps the wrist as if it has been yours for twenty years. Collectors who have handled thousands of watches have told him it is the finest bracelet they have ever touched. For Michael, that is the point. A House of Wunder piece is made to be felt.
